Position: Regional Director, Private Student Loan Sales (Eastern United States) - Nelnet Bank

The Nelnet Bank Regional Director is responsible for developing new business relationships and retaining existing relationships with postsecondary institutions, establishing Nelnet Bank Student Loans on preferred lender lists, and driving loan volume through the school channel. He/she must have proven success in selling (and presenting) to financial aid and higher education professionals in postsecondary institutions in the assigned territory. The Regional Director will act as subject matter expert for the Nelnet Bank Student Loans program and must exceed established annual sales goals.

Job Responsibilities
  • Exceed established annual performance goals consistent with corporate objectives as identified by management.
  • Manage the entire sales process from prospecting to close, using a consultative sales process.
  • Develop a sales plan for the assigned territory
  • Develop and maintain school relationships with key Financial Aid officers and other decision makers
  • Call on schools, coordinate RFP/RFI processes, attend industry conferences, and represent Nelnet Bank in the higher education market
  • Maintain ongoing contact with schools to communicate Nelnet Bank product features/benefits, track daily activities to record efforts
  • Provide competitive research and information for private student loan market and other industry related topics, communicating relevant trends and insights to management
  • Communicate with Product team and Operations teams any concerns, suggestions, or enhancements
  • Pay Range for this role is - $75,000 - $95,000

    Education

    Bachelor’s degree in communications, business or a related field or a combination of education and related experience.

    Experience
  • Minimum 3 years sales/financial aid experience with proven ability to sell and motivate others to sell financial products to postsecondary institutions. Prior experience working in higher education, financial services or education loan sales.
  • Specific experience with education financing products (federal and private student loans) or financial aid experience a plus.
  • Proven success in exceeding sales goals, with the ability to close deals.

  • Technical aptitude and ability to sell/support in a consultative manner.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage customer expectations/sales/support in a professional manner.
  • Ability to plan, execute and forecast workloads and manage multiple accounts.
  • Ability to independently set up/maintain remote office environment.
  • Develop and maintain team CRM system records of contacts, accounts, and leads, as well as track and manage activities.
  • Proven ability to establish or expand client relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Ability to identify and develop strategies to overcome obstacles in reaching customers.
  • Self‑motivated and independent with a strong work ethic and the ability to take direction well.
  • Willingness to engage in direct customer calling and innovative school outreach activities.
