About The Position

This is a remote position for our Eugene, Oregon site. Promote, sell, and secure orders from existing dealers and prospective customers through a relationship‑based approach for the Parts Sales Department. Demonstrate products and services to existing/potential customers and assist them in selecting those best suited to their needs. Promote the purchase, safe operation and proper use of factory‑original parts and Astec equipment.

Deliverables
  • Establish meaningful relationships with existing and new customers.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to align with Astec’s goals.
  • Communicate with customers regarding equipment performance issues associated with parts, service, and new equipment.
  • Assist with training for existing and prospective customers.
  • Maintain written and electronic records of sales‑related leads, contacts, referrals, and communicate information to the correct department.
Key Activities & Responsibilities
  • Establish, develop, and maintain business relationships with current customers and prospective customers in the assigned territory to generate new business for Astec’s product support and parts sales department.
  • Plan and organize personal sales strategy and goals by maximizing return on time investment for the territory, aligning goals with Astec parts and service goals.
  • Work with distributors to productively apply, promote and sell Astec OEM parts and equipment.
  • Support promotion of Astec machines by Astec and dealer sales personnel.
  • Make telephone calls and in‑person visits, presentations, and training to existing and prospective customers; follow up as needed.
  • Write timely reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services.
  • Help factory coordinate service bulletins and marketing campaigns with dealers and customers for Astec equipment in the area.
  • Coordinate all sales activities with factory, Parts Sales Manager, Service Manager, Territory Sales Managers, and dealer product support personnel.
  • Travel customarily and regularly throughout territory, including frequent weeklong stays. 75‑85% travel required.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment, adhere to company policies and safety regulations, wear personal protective equipment, maintain cleanliness using 6S principles, and attend weekly department safety meetings.
Qualifications
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED required; four‑year college degree preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics related to parts books.
  • Sales experience with emphasis on heavy equipment parts sales a plus.
  • Knowledge of products, applications, services, markets, troubleshooting, repair, and/or maintenance of heavy construction equipment a plus.
  • Teamwork and ability to work with all levels of employees.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer‑relations skills.
  • Ability to operate or be trained to operate heavy road building equipment if necessary.
  • Proficient in personal computer use and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to set, adjust, and change daily priorities.
  • Conflict management and resolution skills.
  • Self‑motivation, good organization, and time‑management skills.
  • Willingness to accept responsibility and take on new challenges.
  • Discretion and independent judgment on a regular basis.
  • Problem‑solving aptitude.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of injury in an office environment and occasionally in a manufacturing shop. Duties include extensive computer work, sitting or standing. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
