Join TELA Bio as a Territory Manager – MN (Medical Device Sales). This role is responsible for generating sales of the Company’s Ovi Tex product portfolio in the assigned geographic territory.
Base Pay Range: $90,000.00/yr – $90,000.00/yr
Position Title: Territory Manager – MN (Medical Device Sales)
Position OverviewThe Territory Manager will develop and maintain strong working relationships with surgeons, hospital administrators, and nursing staff to ensure appropriate use of the Company’s FDA‑cleared products. The successful candidate must be able to communicate complex clinical data with the goal of assisting surgeons in appropriate product selection based on patient comorbidities and wound classifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Educate physicians on the benefits of Ovi Tex to patients and hospitals, ease of use, and appropriate technique and placement.
- Communicate complex clinical data to assist surgeons in appropriate product selection based on patient comorbidities and wound classifications.
- Work closely with the Company’s commercial team (marketing, customer service, commercial development) to achieve successful outcomes for hospitals, surgeons, and patients.
- Develop business plans to ensure short‑term revenue objectives are met while optimizing long‑term opportunities in the geographic area.
- Maintain and update the Company’s CRM database with current hospital and surgeon information.
- Participate in national and regional commercial team meetings and calls; share best practices with peers.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; or
- Minimum 3+ years of sales experience in the life science industry, preferably in the biologics space; experience in hernia repair, abdominal wall reconstruction, or plastic/soft tissue reconstruction preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Experience handling biologic tissue‑based materials.
- Extensive knowledge of physicians’ clinical needs and mechanisms of host response to biologic implants.
- Ability to identify new market opportunities for biologic constructs based on unmet needs of general and reconstructive surgeons.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize work with a focus on timelines and deliverables.
- Strong communication and presentation skills; experience presenting to diverse audiences.
- Excellent judgment and decision‑making capabilities; ability to formulate business solutions for a variety of challenges.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal departments and leaders.
- Must have a valid driver’s license; subject to DMV and other background checks.
- Ability to carry and lift product inventory of up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to stand for a minimum of 4 hours.
- Ability to attend surgical procedures lasting up to a minimum of 4 hours.
- Ability to multi‑task in high‑pressure, changing conditions.
The position works in a home office, hospital, HCP office, or clinical environment. The noise level is quiet to moderate.
Primary Location and TravelMust be located within the desired territory. Frequent travel within the territory is required; up to 50% travel to meet business needs.
