Opportunity:
The Outside Sales Representative (OSR) plays a crucial role in ensuring our customers receive solutions tailored to their needs. This role often requires extensive travel, averaging three days and two nights per week in hotels during busy periods. The OSR will help build trust and long-lasting partnerships and contribute to the company’s growth.

What you’ll do
  • Serve as the professional face of Big Ass Fans for current and prospective customers.
  • Perform facility surveys and make customized product recommendations for each customer.
  • Submit all facility information and log all customer interactions in the CRM.
  • Maintain constant communication with customers, the inside sales team, field services/installers, and management.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through frequent post-purchase follow-ups and account nurturing.
  • Generate meetings and new opportunities with existing customers and leads.
  • Respond to inside sales requests for visits promptly.
  • Maintain a positive company image.
What you’ll bring
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent training and experience.
  • Proven outside sales experience (industrial sales is a bonus).
  • Proven ability to build and manage relationships, internally and externally.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) highly preferred.
  • Experience using a CRM (Salesforce preferred) – diligent in recording notes from visits.
  • CAD experience is a plus; familiarity with engineering blueprints and building plans is a plus.
  • Strong time management, follow-through, and ability to self-manage multiple projects.
  • Flexible, self-motivated with a strong work ethic; maintains a professional appearance and positive attitude.
  • Clean driving record and willingness to drive a BAF-branded company vehicle (sedan, SUV, or pickup).
  • Remote role with significant drive time; able to sit in a car for 3–5+ hours at a time and up to ~20 hours per week.
  • Ability to walk and stand continuously for up to 6 hours during large campus site visits; occasional kneeling for measurements.
  • Willingness to make overnight trips frequently.

First 90 Days

Every Big Ass Fans employee works toward the company’s growth goals. A strong 90-day plan helps set you up for success. Here’s a snapshot of the 90 days for an Outside Sales Representative:

Days 1–30
  • Complete onboarding, including onsite FANdamentals training in Lexington, KY.
  • Meet peers and stakeholders you’ll work with daily.
  • Understand BAF products, software, and processes to perform daily tasks.
  • Ride-alongs: minimum of 2 to learn day-to-day activities.
  • Prepare for driving first solo company visit by end of day 30.
Days 31–60
  • Begin conducting independent sales meetings.
  • Follow with an additional ride-along with coaching.
  • Continue learning technical details related to products, installation, and design principles.
  • Be able to create a high-quality Speclab airflow model for facilities.
Days 61–90+
  • Primary metrics:
    Overall Sales & Proactively Generated Opportunities.
  • Provide accurate recommendations while minimizing installation change orders.
The Interview Process
  • Video Screen: A one-way video screen with questions to answer; be yourself and stay calm.
  • First Conversation:
    Discussion with a BAF Recruiter about the opportunity and questions.
  • Hiring Manager Interview:
    Virtual interview with Outside Sales Supervisor and Director of Outside Sales to discuss day-to-day operations and KPIs.
  • Assessment:
    Online assessment to understand your sales strengths and potential.
  • In-Person Interview:
    If feasible, an in-person meeting with a nearby Outside Sales Rep or Supervisor.
