Technical Sales Representative - Specialty Chemicals
Our client is a manufacturer of de‑foamer and anti‑foam technology used in a wide variety of applications including textiles, paints & coatings, adhesives, metalworking fluids, emulsion polymers, oil & gas, construction chemicals and others. They require an experienced specialty chemical industry sales person to serve as their sales representative for southeastern states territory focused on coatings and construction material applications. This is a home‑office based position covering southern VA, NC, SC, eastern TN, GA, and AL.
Interested candidates must reside within the assigned sales territory.
- Manage all sales and related activities for customers of antifoam and de‑foamer chemical products within the assigned territory.
- Work directly with customers to provide technical support and assistance.
- Manage existing business while working to grow new sales at both existing and new accounts and applications.
- Independently manage sales activities and travel schedule to maximum effect.
- Focus sales efforts on end use markets such as textiles, coatings & adhesives, graphic arts and construction chemicals.
- Develop competitive and market intelligence and share with the business team.
- Collaborate with sales management, marketing, customer service, R&D and manufacturing to drive sales growth and achieve business objectives.
- Prepare and deliver effective sales, target account and forecast reports on a timely basis.
- Manage customer CRM data.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or related subject strongly preferred.
- At least 5 years of successful specialty chemical sales experience calling into industrial accounts.
- Technical training in specialty chemical products and technical aptitude.
- Laboratory experience is helpful.
- Knowledge of antifoam and de‑foamer technology is desirable.
- Ability to work independently from a home office in the sales territory with minimum supervision.
- Desire and ability to drive sales growth.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to travel extensively within the sales territory, as much as 50% of the time or more as required.
