Sartorius has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, self‑motivated professional to support our customers and Sales organization in the Bay Area for our Bioreactor Technologies portfolio. In this remote position, the individual will play a key role in supporting our customers and internal teams by offering product expertise, upstream applications knowledge, and technical support.
The main mission is for successful application, implementation, qualification, and use of Sartorius’ upstream products by supporting the Sales process with product positioning, presentations, demonstrations, and evaluations.
The Field Application Specialist position is based out of the home office in the Bay Area to assist in supporting business local to Nor Cal and, on occasion, other sites on the West Coast as needed.
What You Will Accomplish Together With Us- Support the Sales organization with customer discussions on existing products through product presentations, demonstrations, trials, application studies/demos as well as troubleshooting and cGMP manufacturing support for the Bioreactor Technologies portfolio which consists mainly of the Am line, rocking motion bioreactors, and STR bioreactors at all scales.
- Provide technical qualification of sales opportunities to ensure appropriate positioning of technology within the customer application.
- Support Sales in the customer process, URS analysis & technical response, and lead customer evaluations to help position products in line with the application requirements.
- Strategize with assigned Account Managers to generate value‑adding activities according to customer and business need.
- Support the development of strong relationships with accounts within the assigned sales territory.
- Support new products through close collaboration with beta site testing, product demonstrations/discussions and information gathering.
- Assist the company by occasionally supporting the training of other Field Application Specialists and the Sales organization on assigned technologies and/or processes.
- Ensure training of customers on new technologies and support initial start‑up operations as well as ensure/assist in internal training opportunities for self and colleagues.
- Report on competitor product implementation & presence within the territory by feedback to the Application Services and Product Management Team.
- Monthly report on territory activity for management.
- Occasional overnight travel will be required to support customers/sales, to attend organizational meetings and trainings (~40% of the time).
- BSc or MSc Degree, Graduate in chemical engineering, biotechnology, or a related scientific field.
- 3+ years biopharmaceutical industry experience within upstream cell culture development or process development; MSAT, cGMP Manufacturing and/or Tech Transfer experience a plus.
- Proven knowledge of biopharmaceutical industry including biologics, viral, or cell therapy process development with scale up for relevant modalities highly encouraged.
- Computer proficient in Windows‑based software package including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Up to 40% travel.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely due to the requirement to handle equipment.
- Effectively interface with product/project/division management.
- Interaction at various levels (sales, technical, end‑users, leaders) within our internal structure as well as our customers.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Self‑motivated and a self‑starter; strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize projects and multitask at a high level of efficiency.

Compensation for this position will be a base salary between $100k – $110k plus bonus depending upon experience and qualifications.
