Sales Manager/Business Development Rep/Hunter - NJ/Remote

One of our clients, a global manufacturer of custom-engineered packaging and labeling solutions, is expanding its business and looking for a Sales Manager to join their U.S. team. This is a technical, custom-made solutions environment (not off-the-shelf), selling into small to mid-sized companies across Food, Beverage, Pharma, Cosmetics, and Pet Food.

Reporting to the CEO of the US subsidiary, the Regional Sales Manager will have full sales cycle responsibility for building pipeline, qualifying opportunities, and driving new revenue while creating long-term client relationships. This is an individual contributor hunter role, no management responsibility.

Overview

The Sales Manager will own the outbound effort and the early-to-mid stages of the sales process: prospecting, discovery, pre-qualification, and managing the customer journey through the qualification phase. Due to the technical/custom nature of the products, the role requires comfort with longer sales cycles and structured qualification processes.

Responsibilities
  • Generate qualified new business opportunities through targeted prospecting, cold outreach, networking, and industry connections.
  • Lead discovery and pre-qualification: understand customer needs, technical requirements, volumes, timelines, and qualification steps.
  • Manage opportunities through the qualification process (typically 4–6 weeks), coordinating with internal technical teams as needed.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline, provide accurate forecasts, and track progress against agreed activity and pipeline KPIs.
  • Develop long-term relationships with customers and ensure professional, responsive experience throughout the buying process.
  • Prepare and deliver customer presentations and proposals; support internal alignment to move opportunities forward.
  • Maintain regular contact with customers to identify issues, respond to inquiries, and drive resolution in partnership with internal teams.
  • Travel as needed for customer meetings and key industry events.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of B2B sales experience in packaging / labeling / flexible packaging or a closely related technical manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record in business development and pipeline generation in a consultative/technical sales process.
  • Comfort selling custom solutions with qualification steps and longer cycles (3–6 months).
  • Ability to understand manufacturing/production capabilities and collaborate with technical teams.
  • Highly organized, strong follow-up, and excellent responsiveness.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work remotely in a multicultural environment.
  • Experience working with an international company or fast-growth environment is a plus.
  • Travel as needed.
