Reports to: Sr. Director, Electrochem
Compensation Range: $170,000 - $180,000 CDN (base salary only; bonuses, benefits, pension contributions, and other incentives excluded)
About The Position And About YouThe Corporate Account Manager is an experienced individual with strong management skills who handles the most important customers of Chemtrade in Western Canada and Western US. They develop, manage, and optimize sales of Electro Chem chemicals (Caustic soda, sodium chlorate, chlorine, HCl) as well as SPPC products (sulfuric acid, SBS, sulfur, and other products as needed). The role requires technical knowledge of product application and the ability to develop and maintain critical customer contacts, understand market dynamics, and recommend/implement appropriate actions.
WhatYou Need To Be Successful
- Degree in Business, Chemistry, Engineering or Environmental Sciences with a minimum of 10-15 years of experience in chemical sales and marketing, preferably within the Pulp & Paper Industry. MBA considered a strong asset.
- Valid driver’s license required
- Valid passport
- Ability to travel between 50-70% of the time
- Strong computer skills (SAP, Office)
- Proven verbal and interpersonal communication skills

- Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential customers in the territory to understand needs, gain market knowledge, and recommend actions.
- Ensure relationships with end‑use customers are favorable; take appropriate action if a customer is dissatisfied with any aspect of Chemtrade service.
- Independently develop/implement specific account‑by‑account tactical strategy to exceed contribution/margin plan, focusing on volume, selling price, freight optimization, and customer tank car hold time.
- Develop, analyze, and negotiate sales agreements at strategic accounts with input from management to meet corporate objectives.
- Answer customer requests regarding operational problems related to the use of our products.
- Conscientiously review and communicate potential opportunities that add value to current business strategies or fit the growth strategy.
- Effectively manage sales processes, including: communication with customers (price change notifications, quotations, etc.), territory management and planning, budgeting and forecasting, call reports, expenses, etc.
- Communicate business factors that affect market conditions (competitive activity/pricing, end‑use/industry knowledge, environmental issues) and integrate them with Chemtrade business strategies to optimize decisions.
- Proactively coordinate with operations, distribution, customer service, technical and quality functions to resolve customer issues and successfully implement business strategy.
- Coordinate with accounting to keep customer accounts receivable current.
- Understand and analyze the cost structure, supply chain, inventory balance to meet customer requirements, structure new deals, and maximize value.
- Understand all cost components that impact cost of doing business with the customer and optimally utilize resources to stay within the assigned budget.
- Work/coordinate projects to develop new business or support our business in collaboration with the Sales/Marketing Department.
