Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Sales Representative Organization (or individual) to represent a group of high-quality mechanical subcontract manufacturers across the East Coast of the United States. These manufacturers specialize in precision machining, sheet metal fabrication, and electro-mechanical assembly, serving a range of OEMs in aerospace, medical technology, transportation, and industrial markets.

The ideal candidate or firm will have an existing network of OEM contacts and experience promoting technical manufacturing solutions to engineering and procurement decision-makers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Development & Relationship Management
  • Establish, develop, and maintain strong business relationships with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and contract manufacturers within target industries.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between client engineering/procurement teams and the subcontract manufacturing organizations.
  • Sales Strategy & Territory Management
  • Actively promote manufacturing capabilities including CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, electro-mechanical assembly, and prototype-to-production scaling.
  • Conduct regular on-site visits to client facilities throughout Long Island and the broader NY metro area.
  • Identify new opportunities, qualify leads, and convert prospects into active customers.
  • Technical Sales & Quoting Support
  • Understand technical drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to ensure accurate quoting and capability alignment.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to prepare customer-specific proposals and presentations.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and customer feedback to inform strategic decisions.
  • Provide regular updates to represented manufacturers on pipeline activity, customer feedback, and market developments.

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of success in sales or manufacturer representation within the mechanical manufacturing sector.
  • Deep understanding of precision machining, sheet metal fabrication, and electro-mechanical assembly.
  • Strong network in aerospace, defense, medical technology, or transportation equipment manufacturing preferred.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Technical literacy: ability to read engineering drawings, discuss tolerances and materials.
  • Self-starter with entrepreneurial mindset and ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Long Island and the broader NY metro area.

Compensation:

  • Commission-based compensation with significant upside potential tied to territory growth and revenue generation.
  • Support from manufacturers including marketing collateral, quoting assistance, technical training, and account management collaboration.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

This opportunity is best suited for an established rep organization or individual with deep roots in the East Coast manufacturing community especially those with connections to aerospace and defense primes, medical OEMs, and high-precision fabrication buyers. Someone who understands how to sell both capability and value in a competitive, quality-driven market.
