Principal Information Analyst – Forecasting & Planning

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the Business Intelligence team based in National Headquarters. The BI team is responsible for all routine and ad hoc performance reporting, including production of daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports covering operational, clinical, PTS and sickness absence. These reports are delivered to SAS Executive, Board, Senior Managers and the Scottish Government, covering the whole system from 999 calls to outcomes linked with other areas of healthcare.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead the Forecasting & Planning team, providing high quality data analysis and intelligence to improve service delivery. Support business‑as‑usual capabilities while developing innovative ways to help the Scottish Ambulance Service plan for the future through data. Liaise closely with Executive Team Members, Regional Directors, Ambulance Control Centre staff and the Scottish Government to ensure the regular provision of essential data for decision making.
Manage a small team, scope projects, communicate across analytical and non‑analytical stakeholders, maintain attention to detail and organisation.
Highly numerate with experience of analytical techniques and complex datasets. Full training in the source database systems will be given. Expected to independently interrogate data for quality and completeness, complete analysis using appropriate tools, and visualise results for the intended audience.

Although the post is based within NHQ, the working location is flexible and will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate. Options include home working, office working or a hybrid arrangement.

Employment ConditionsAs from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. There will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
