Store Manager, Retail & Store Manager

The WHEAT Company is a multi-faceted, destination-focused, luxury retail company; incorporating a broad portfolio of retail destinations

(incorporating an in-hospitality division & a stand-alone division;) a domestically produced, eco-conscious clothing collection designed for the luxury traveler, and a hospitality retail consulting arm. The Manager for The Shop by Wheat & The Strand Cafe Marthas Vineyard will oversee all areas including inventory, team members, and guests at this location. They are expected to be a strong representation and reinforcement of company values and standards and preferably will have something of an entrepreneurial spirit.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about luxury fashion and have a deep knowledge of the brands we carry. They will have experience within the retail industry and be able to draw upon past experiences to ensure that expectations are being upheld.

In addition, the ideal candidate will become extremely familiar with the Maison Wheat Clothing line that includes luxury essentials, candles, and fragrances. Having a familiarity of the local area and understanding seasonal sales trends is also beneficial. This candidate will be able to draw upon their previous management experience to help lead the team to success in reaching monthly store sales goals, maintaining visual displays, and consistency within the store.

Prior experience in

supervising a team, cash handling, register operations, food /beverage handling and light cleaning duties is a must. The candidate must be able to work independently and be willing to solve problems effectively. This role will require a strong ability to communicate both verbally and written on a day-to-day basis, along with weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting to the Operations team and Home Office team.

• Complete and wholistic understanding of all the responsibilities of the Sales Associate and Barista roles.
• Complete understanding of the inventory, the point-of-sale system WHEAT uses to track inventory, and accountability to ensure accuracy at all times
• Ongoing training of sales associates and baristas to ensure that monthly sales goals are met.
• Ongoing training and management of employees to ensure that the store standards are upheld
• Handling daily sales reports to validate cash on hand and communicate with in store manager & Home Office
• Weekly conference calls with Home Office to discuss trends
• Demonstrating a strong understanding of leadership and drive
• Assisting customer's needs and problem solving any guest related concerns within company standards
• Full responsibility over the cash register, nightly deposits, and change orders as needed as well as running reports to validate
• Ability to work the point-of-sale system and train others on its functionality
• Understanding the monthly sales goals and strategizing to maximize profitability
• Responsibility leading a team and solving any hiring/scheduling needs
• Providing coverage and working shifts
• Sales floor maintenance, including but not limited to the oversight of restocking, merchandizing, and cleaning tasks
• Receiving deliveries and following protocol for receiving, displaying and storing both merchandise/ food & beverage.
• Preparing and serving beverages such as drip coffee, espresso-based drinks, tea and other specialty drinks
• Maintain inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply, stocking coffee brewing equipment
• Preparing and maintaining Industrial espresso machines and brewing equipments.

• A thorough background of retail and knowledge and skillsets is a must: customer service, POS system, processing shipment arrivals, answering calls or emails, and product knowledge.
• Experience in assisting high end clientele
• Experience and understanding of all Microsoft Office Products
• Must be detail-oriented and self-motivated while also excited to motivate team members
• Ability to think independently and troubleshoot technological difficulties
• Days, nights, and some weekends are a must, full responsibility for store operational hours
• A budding or advanced interest in coffee
• Prepare food and beverages to The Strand standards with a focus on quality.
