Position: Manager, Store Planning (Temporary)

Manager, Store Planning

Base pay range: CA$/yr – CA$/yr.

Reports to: Vice President, Planning

Location: North Vancouver, BC (Hybrid remote work, 3+ days in office).

Overview

As the Manager, Store Planning, you play a crucial role in connecting store level sales plans back to financial and merchandise plans. Working with cross‑functional partners, you will lead the clustering and location planning of our stores so they link back to the overall merchandise strategy. Your ability to understand store needs through guest demographics, product assortment, sales and operations makes you an ideal representative within MP&A and Merchandising.

You will work with Store Development to open and optimize retail locations for the best guest experience and productivity.

Team & Culture

Store Planning is a highly agile function. The team grows in size and capabilities, with each planner owning a core market and mainline product category. They work closely with partners in MP&A, Merchandising, Finance and Store Development. The team champions a culture of continuous improvement and inclusion.

Core Activities
  • Build and lead a high‑performing Store Planning team, including headcount, budget management and team development.
  • Develop store‑level sales planning tools and end‑to‑end processes.
  • Evolve and refine seasonal clustering tools and processes.
  • Collaborate with Merchandise Planning on buy planning at the store‑cluster level, including sales contribution, APS planning and unit investment.
  • Collaborate with Commercial and Store Development on new store openings and optimization through site selection, floor‑plan review and product assortment assignment.
  • Uphold Fair Labor Association’s Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing throughout the Arc’teryx supply chain.
Future Projects
  • Work on the End‑to‑End Planning project to develop future processes and technology in merchandise financial planning, assortment planning, demand planning and more.
  • Collaborate with Store Development, Visual Merchandising and Retail Operations to evolve store design and optimization processes.
Qualifications
  • 5–8 years of experience in Merchandise Planning, Allocations, Merchandising or a related sales planning function.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience.
  • Degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.
  • Experience working in a vertical retailer, preferably in apparel or outdoor industry.
  • Firsthand experience or familiarity with the core activities we build products for (trail, snow, climb).
  • Proficiency in using data and market insights to drive alignment and decision‑making.
  • Excellent cross‑functional collaboration and presentation skills across all organizational levels.
  • Experience working within an I2C/GTM calendar and meeting pre‑existing deliverables.
  • Change‑management experience and a high degree of perseverance.
  • Empathetic leadership, comfortable giving and receiving feedback, and commitment to continuous team improvement.
  • Proactive problem‑solving and flexible in ambiguous situations.
  • Ability to balance autonomy with collaboration and inspire breakthrough thinking.
  • Strong commitment to doing what is right and pursuing the best solutions.
  • Passion for the work and for outdoor adventure.
