Job Overview

Salary: USD $82,000.00/year

Location:

Natural Grocers, Walla Walla, WA (training in Golden, CO)

Eligibility:
Senior managers will receive airfare, hotel, per diem, and transportation while in CO.

Grand Opening:
May 2026 (subject to change; Final date to receive applications: 01/15/2026)

Responsibilities
  • Greet and serve customers following company standards; train staff to provide exemplary customer service.
  • Maintain a professional and respectful environment for employees, customers, vendors, and external contacts.
  • Handle customer complaints, special orders, and store in‐stocking per company policy.
  • Assist customers on the sales floor, directing staff, and attending to all departments at least 75% of the time.
  • Ensure state and/or county food safety certifications are current for all staff; oversee compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Monitor and improve store and department sales metrics such as sales per labor hour ratio, average ticket, customer count, cost of goods sold, and EBITDA.
  • Order products from correct vendors to obtain discounts and maintain margins.
  • Manage markdowns, perishables rotation, and product presentation per company standards.
  • Create accurate master and daily schedules; post them timely; assign tasks and monitor completion via company task sheets.
  • Partner with department managers to cross‑train staff for task coverage and shared responsibilities.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, grant wage increases, and manage interview and hiring processes with departmental input.
  • Address performance and disciplinary issues in a timely manner with HR support.
  • Hold monthly staff meetings; communicate company updates and policies.
  • Ensure safety guidelines are followed and manage disruptions such as loiterers, solicitation, emergency weather, and bathroom misuse.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting store paperwork, monthly manager reports, daily sales reports, and manager’s cash records.
  • Maintain store appearance, cleanliness, and marketability.
  • Support decisions and communications from home office; remain flexible to changing demands.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED (required).
  • 1–2 years of management experience in grocery or related retail (natural foods industry a plus).
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and work under pressure.
  • Must pass applicable food‑safety training courses and maintain certifications per state or county law.
  • Forklift certification required.
  • Cashier‑trained; proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent customer service skills, strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to follow direction.
  • Sense of urgency and focus on task completion.
