Job SummaryThe District Manager oversees the personnel and operations of Deli and Bakery departments in multiple U.S. Military commissary stores. This leadership role drives outstanding customer service, food safety, productivity, and sales across 5–7 stores in the Midwest.
Responsibilities- Oversee all operations in Deli, Bakery, and Hot Prepared Foods, including staffing, training, customer service, product production, display presentation, cleanliness, sanitation, sales, and profits.
- Ensure consistent application of company procedures and human resources policies; proactively monitor operations to identify and correct problems.
- Maintain compliance with U.S. Military Food Inspector standards and conduct quarterly safety meetings.
- Maximize daily sales while managing costs, labor, inventory, salvage, and margin.
- Approve weekly work schedules and ensure adherence to operational needs.
- Execute new programs to attract customers and conduct monthly inventory processes.
- Visit assigned stores regularly to verify standards, provide training, and retain high morale.
- Act as a local Deli/Bakery General Manager on an as‑needed basis.
- Two years of supervisory experience in multi‑unit food retail.
- Background in Deli and/or Bakery operations preferred.
- Proven leadership and team‑building skills; ability to motivate staff and management.
- Strong organization, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Financial analysis and assessment skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft programs.
- Good driving record; vehicle required for business use.
- Military background check clearance to access bases.
- Home office with company equipment.
- Availability during normal business hours plus evenings, weekends, and overnight travel by car or plane (2–3 nights per week).
- Ability to read and analyze data on computer and hard copy.
- Ability to manage multiple demands in a busy environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical ability to lift 30–50 lbs and operate equipment while standing entire shift.
- Frequent repetitive motion using deli meat and cheese slicers.
