Senior Research in AI and Computational Geometry - Summer Internship
Siemens Foundational Technology (FT) is a central R&D department that supports Siemens’ executive units with primary research on future technologies for industry, infrastructure, mobility, and healthcare. The Senior Research Intern in AI and Manufacturing will work remotely from a home office for at least three months, collaborating closely with senior researchers to advance AI‑driven manufacturing research that enhances planning, efficiency, and cost‑effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research and development in AI and machine learning applications for geometry.
- Collaborate with senior researchers to design and implement AI models and algorithms.
- Implement prototype algorithms, run experiments, and analyze performance on complex geometric datasets.
- Develop and test prototypes to validate AI solutions for real‑world design challenges.
- Document research findings and present results.
- Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong background in geometry, AI, and machine learning.
- Experience with programming languages such as C++, Python, or MATLAB.
- Proficiency in advanced computational geometric algorithms, AI, and machine learning techniques.
- Excellent programming skills in Python, C++, or MATLAB.
- Experience with geometry representations and CAD API programming (e.g., Parasolid, OCC).
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States for the duration of the internship.
- Previous experience in CAD or geometry processing.
- Publications or research projects related to AI or geometry.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with CAD and computational geometry.
- Experience with neural network encodings and building ML models from scratch.
- Experience with geometric representations such as B‑Rep, voxels, CSG, implicit, and design‑by‑code.
- Knowledge of advanced statistical methods and data visualization techniques.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
Siemens offers a comprehensive benefits package. The pay range for this position is $35–$47 per hour. The actual wage offered may vary based on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and geographic location.
