Remote Multilingual Science and Nature Expert - AI Trainer

Role Overview

Mercor is collaborating with a leading AI lab on a large-scale AI training initiative focused on improving scientific reasoning, empirical analysis, and evidence-based explanation in advanced language models. We’re seeking experienced Science and Nature experts to contribute by creating and evaluating science-related prompts and responses. This is a multilingual opportunity. We are specifically seeking experts who are fluent and professionally active in one or more of the following languages:
Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Russian, German, Arabic, Thai, Tamil, or Hindi. Importantly, we are not looking for translation ability alone. Candidates must have real‑world professional experience working in scientific or applied natural science fields within their linguistic and cultural context—including familiarity with local research standards, scientific terminology, regulatory frameworks (where applicable), and professional norms.

• Author realistic science prompts spanning biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science, earth science, ecology, and related disciplines
• Review and revise AI‑generated responses for factual accuracy, methodological soundness, clarity, and adherence to scientific standards
• Write high‑quality human‑authored “gold” responses for complex, data‑driven, or multi‑step scientific questions
• Create controlled prompt variations that test subtle differences in experimental setup, assumptions, environmental conditions, or theoretical framing
• Evaluate outputs across different tones (technical, explanatory, educational) and instruction constraints
• Identify model failure cases involving flawed reasoning, misuse of scientific principles, incorrect data interpretation, or unsupported claims

• Degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, Earth Science, or a related field)
• 2+ years of professional work experience in scientific research, laboratory work, field research, applied science, science communication, or a related domain
• Active professional familiarity with scientific practice in at least one of the following languages:
  Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Russian, German, Arabic, Thai, Tamil, or Hindi
• Strong understanding of experimental design, data interpretation, and discipline‑specific methodologies within your linguistic and cultural context
• Excellent analytical and written communication skills in the target language
• Ability to exercise careful, evidence‑based editorial judgment

Expected commitment: 10–40 hours per week
