Would you like to be involved in developing new solutions for horticultural production? We are looking for a Senior Scientist for a permanent position in our horticultural technology research group.

As a Senior Scientist, you will develop new resource‑efficient greenhouse production solutions. Your work includes conducting scientific experiments and simulations, for example, to improve energy efficiency and optimise production costs. Combining plant growth parameters and growing conditions with simulation models is an essential part of your task. International and domestic funding calls, project management and reporting, scientific writing, purposeful interaction and the implementation of research data are also an important part of your job description.

You will work closely with companies, stakeholders and researchers in the field.

You will work as part of Luke's Horticultural technologies research group, which will support you in your everyday research work. Your home office will be in Turku but the experimental activities will mainly be located on the research platforms of Piikkiö. Luke's other research infrastructures and laboratories in Finland are also at your disposal. As a workplace, Luke offers a multidisciplinary, international and innovative community of research and experts.

• Expertise in greenhouse production and crop production, including plant growth conditions, different cultivation solutions in the greenhouse and control of conditions with automation
• Experience in the design of experimental research, different kinds of experimental designs and processing of research data using statistical methods (e.g. R, Python, SAS or similar)
• Several years of experience in the planning and implementation of research projects, as well as evidence of successful acquisition of research funding and scientific publishing
• Excellent oral and written English skills
• Good interaction and communication skills
• B driving licence

• Experience with simulation models
• Knowledge of international and national stakeholders in greenhouse production and/or research
• Finnish and/or Swedish language skills
