The University of Michigan Medical School is seeking a Research Lab Specialist Associate to support translational sepsis research through advanced technical expertise in genetic engineering, molecular biology, and in vivo mouse models. Key responsibilities include CRISPR/Cas9-mediated generation of global and cell-specific gene knockout mice, mouse colony management, and molecular validation.

Responsibilities*
  • Perform immunological and biochemical assays (e.g., flow cytometry, ELISA, Western blotting, PCR).
  • Develops, improves, and implements laboratory techniques and performs complex experiments or tests to contribute to the timely and accurate completion of the research projects including clear and complete records of all experimental work.
  • Troubleshoots assays and customizes experimental tools to answer research questions.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, including application of basic bioinformatic tools and statistical models.
  • Coordinates external and internal resources necessary for completion of research plan.
  • Manage and coordinate all phases of complex in vivo research projects under scientific direction, including experimental planning and procedural execution.
Required Qualifications *
  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • 2-5 years hands-on experience of gene knockout mice.
  • Strong background and profound knowledge in molecular biology is required.
  • Experience working with mice models is required.
Desired Qualifications*
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Experience in molecular and/or cellular biology techniques preferred.
  • Proficiency in development of genetically modified rodent models with CRISPR technology preferred.
