Research Assistant/Associate, Biology
Introduction
This pool is created to provide Research Technicians for the College of Engineering (CoEng), College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP), Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER), Community Technical College (CTC), Business Enterprise Institute (BEI), and the School of Education (SoEd). These units conduct applied and fundamental scientific research, which may include collecting, synthesizing, archiving, and distributing data. Some field work may be included in addition to administrative or technical duties.
Roles and ResponsibilitiesResearch technicians will work on sponsored projects. Duties include data collection, data entry, manipulation of data to produce charts and graphs, interpretation of data for reporting, and possibly field work. Technicians may also coordinate or lead the activities of others and work in remote locations, sometimes in extreme conditions.
Minimum Qualifications- Research Technician 1:
High school graduation and 6 months' experience in a field relevant to research or an equivalent combination of training and experience. - Research Technician 2: 1 year's relevant college coursework and 1 year's experience in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Research Technician 3: 2 years' relevant college coursework and 2 years' relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Research Technician 4:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 4 years' experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Knowledge of data collection procedures, data entry procedures, computerized spreadsheets and databases, ability to manipulate data to produce charts and graphs, ability to interpret data results for reporting, remote work capability, and ability to coordinate/lead others are essential.
Position DetailsThis is a part‑time, non‑exempt temporary position. New hires will be placed on the Temporary Salary Table and the grade is determined based on education and experience. The position is pooled; applications are reviewed as needed and submission does not guarantee review or an offer.
