Overview
Syner-G is seeking a Consultant to support core technical operations within the Cell Line Development (CLD) group. This role is designed for an early‑career scientific professional interested in combining hands‑on laboratory execution with long‑term development toward strategic life sciences consulting. The Associate Consultant will contribute to the engineering, selection, and characterization of mammalian expression systems while participating in a structured professional development program intended to prepare the individual for a future consulting transition.
This position is based in Southern California. Relocation may be required depending on candidate location and project needs.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain, expand, and bank mammalian cell lines (e.g., CHO, HEK
293) using aseptic techniques in a BSL‑2 environment. - Execute stable and transient transfections and perform selection strategies to generate high‑titer production pools.
- Conduct single‑cell cloning using automated platforms (e.g., Solentim, Beacon) or traditional limiting dilution methods to ensure monoclonality.
- Perform analytical assays such as ELISA, biolayer interferometry (Octet), and flow cytometry to assess protein productivity and quality attributes.
- Maintain rigorous data integrity through comprehensive Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) documentation and contributions to technical reports and SOPs.
- Collaborate with Upstream and Downstream Process Development teams to support seamless transfer of lead candidates.

Education- MS or PhD in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Chemical Engineering, or a related biological science.
- MS candidates: 2–5 years of relevant laboratory experience.
- PhD candidates: 0–3 years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Demonstrated competency in aseptic mammalian cell culture and basic molecular biology techniques (e.g., DNA preparation, PCR).
- Experience working in a BSL‑2 laboratory environment is preferred.
- Strong technical skills in mammalian cell culture and analytical characterization methods.
- Ability to maintain high‑quality documentation and adhere to data integrity standards.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced laboratory environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional scientific teams.
- Strong communication skills and interest in developing broader project management and consulting capabilities.
Physical Demands:
The role requires regular use of laboratory equipment, pipetting, and extended periods of standing during experimental procedures. The position may require lifting up to 25 pounds and working within biosafety cabinets. Close vision and the ability to adjust focus are necessary for laboratory work and documentation review.
The work environment includes laboratory settings requiring PPE and adherence to BSL‑2 safety standards. Laboratory environments may involve exposure to biological materials, chemicals, and equipment. Office‑based work will involve standard computer use and moderate noise levels.

CompensationThe expected salary for this position is approximately $100,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job‑related factors permitted by law.
