Postdoctoral Fellow of Physics – Experimental Hadron Physics Group at the College of William and Mary
The Department of Physics at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow position, expected to begin March 10, 2026.
We seek an individual with expertise in experimental hadronic physics to join the Nuclear and Hadronic Experimental Group led by Dr. Meike Küßner. The successful candidate will contribute to the GlueX experiment in Hall D at the nearby Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab). Applicants should possess experience in experimental hadron physics, which may include experimental data handling and analysis, amplitude analysis, software development, and/or detector–related hardware operation and design.
The appointed researcher will be expected to assume a leading role in the operation and analysis of data from the GlueX experiment and in the coupled‑channel analyses of multi‑meson final states.
The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability.
Required QualificationsApplicant must hold a Ph.D. in Physics, or related field, at the time appointment begins (expected to begin March 10, 2026).
Preferred QualificationsExperience in data analysis and hardware, in particular hadron spectroscopy utilizing amplitude analysis techniques.
Application ProcessApplicants must apply online at Submit a curriculum vitae, a cover letter, and a statement of research interests. Candidates are encouraged to reflect on their past experiences or future plans to foster an inclusive and welcoming climate for learners/scholars in Physics in any of the aforementioned required documents. You will be prompted to submit online the names and email addresses of three references who will be contacted by the system with instructions for how to submit a letter of reference.
