Position Overview
Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health – Center for Biostatistics in AIDS Research (CBAR) is seeking a PhD‑level Research Associate or Research Scientist statistician to work in the ACTG (Advancing Clinical Therapeutics Globally for HIV/AIDS and Other Infections) or IMPAACT (International Maternal Pediatric Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials Network) networks. The role is part of a team of over 60 statisticians, epidemiologists, and research staff collaborating on the design, monitoring, analysis, and reporting of Phase I–IV clinical trials, diagnostic studies, and observational studies focused on HIV and infectious diseases.
Responsibilities• Lead statistical work on ACTG or IMPAACT studies and other infectious diseases projects, including mentoring and supervising staff.
• Design, conduct, and report results from clinical trials and observational studies.
• Develop and execute a self‑initiated research agenda related to HIV and infectious diseases.
• Conduct statistical methods research when appropriate and contribute to the evolution of biostatistical science within CBAR.
- Doctoral degree in biostatistics or a related field.
- Research Associate: recent doctoral graduates;
Research Scientist: at least two years of clinical trials or related applied experience beyond the doctorate and a publication record beyond thesis papers. - Evidence of the ability to conduct collaborative and methodological research independently in the design, conduct, monitoring, and analysis of trials and observational studies.
- Strong quantitative and communication skills with an interest in assuming a leadership role.
- Experience with SAS and multi‑center clinical trials.
- Established interests in infectious diseases, particularly HIV or tuberculosis, or implementation science.
CBAR offers a hybrid work environment that includes a combination of on‑campus/in‑person work and remote work.
Salary RangeResearch Associate: $128,000–$135,000.
Research Scientist: $145,000–$175,000.
