Salary: £41,374 per annum (including London Allowance).

About the roleSuper Fab is an electronic device nanofabrication facility at Royal Holloway dedicated to the design, fabrication, and exploration of superconducting quantum devices. As a Super Fab Research Fellow, you will work on the design, development, fabrication and implementation of superconducting quantum devices, including novel Josephson junction structures, hybrid superconducting‑normal metal devices, materials development, wafer‑scale production issues and similar.
Responsibilities- Produce independent and original research and aid in the production and submission of publications to refereed journals and conference contributions.
- Help maintain and develop the Super Fab facility.
- Supervise postgraduate and Masters‑level students.
- Problem‑solve issues experienced by external academic and industry‑based facility users.
- Provide new user training on tools.
- PhD in Experimental Solid‑State Physics or a closely related area.
- Prior experience in a relevant field such as superconducting quantum devices, spintronics, nanofabrication or electronic device characterisation and measurement.
- Experience in the field of superconducting quantum devices (advantageous).
- Right to work in the UK.
This is a full‑time post, available from 1 February 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter) for a fixed term period of 6 months, with the possibility of extension.
