Senior Climate Economics Modeller – Ricardo (part of WSP) –
Location: Athens, Greece / Madrid, Spain / Rimini, Italy –

The RoleWe are looking for a highly skilled Senior Modeller to join the Economic Analysis team. The successful candidate will support the development and application of the GEM‑E3 model, conduct climate risk assessments and policy impact assessments for EU and non‑EU clients, and explore macroeconomic, distributional and regional implications of climate and energy policies.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and apply economic models (e.g., CGE models like GEM‑E3).
- Collect, structure, and analyse large datasets related to energy, economy, and transport.
- Review and summarise scientific, technical, and market reports to support quantitative assessments.
- Develop and apply economic and energy system modelling tools using GAMS, Python, and/or R.
- Support EU‑funded research projects, contributing to climate policy and IPCC‑related work.
- Develop policy recommendations and briefs based on modelling results.
- Manage time across multiple projects with a focus on quality, organisation, and collaboration.
- Collaborate with other team members to deliver high‑quality research.
- Manage EU‑funded research and consultancy projects efficiently.
- MSc or higher in Engineering, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
- Experience in energy or economic systems modelling and climate policy assessment.
- Proven programming skills in GAMS and/or Python/R.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a proactive and collaborative approach.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Strong background in climate/environmental economics, including energy decarbonization and mitigation pathways.
- Excellent written and spoken English (Spanish optional, courses available).
