Research Scientist
Position Summary
Sr Research Scientist 2 – responsible for managing research at the Teakettle Experimental Forest, CA. Duties include terrestrial and aquatic data collection, hiring, training, and overseeing the field crew, collecting, QA/QC, data management, and analysis of forest inventory data, and managing lab analysis and data analysis of water data. Other duties as assigned.
ResponsibilitiesThe Sr. Research Scientist 2 will manage research activities, oversee field crews, conduct QA/QC, manage data, analyze forest inventory and water samples, and may be assigned additional responsibilities.
Conditions of Employment- Successful candidate must submit to a post‑offer, pre‑employment physical examination and medical history check. Additional health screenings may be required, dependent on the nature of the research conducted.
Master's degree; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications- MS in Biology
- Prior experience conducting forest inventory work, training and leading field technicians
- Prior experience conducting data QA/QC and managing data
- Prior experience with data analysis in R and publishing in the peer‑reviewed literature
- Prior experience surveying forest fuels
- Prior experience collecting water samples
- Prior experience working at a remote field site
