SummaryThe Quality Assurance Specialist owns end-to-end quality (manual and automated), security‑minded testing, and automated front‑end tests in CI/CD. This person works with the Application Development teams to define and run a clear QA process and integrate automated checks into the SDLC pipeline.
Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesThis list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
A day in the life of a Quality Assurance Specialist at Fox may include: QA process- Defining, documenting, and maintaining QA processes (test planning, cases, environments, sign‑off).
- Creating and maintaining test plans and cases from requirements/user stories; tracking coverage and gaps.
- Executing functional, regression, and exploratory testing; logging defects with clear steps and impact.
- Participating in release readiness (go/no‑go) and post‑release verification.
- Helping refine acceptance criteria and definition of done with product and engineering.
- Designing and executing security‑focused test scenarios (auth, authorization, input validation, sensitive data handling).
- Supporting security reviews and compliance (e.g., PCI/SOC2) by testing controls and documenting results.
- Identifying and reporting security‑related defects; collaborating with Application Development teams on remediation.
- Staying current on common web vulnerabilities (OWASP, etc.) and basic secure coding practices.
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining automated front‑end tests (e.g., E2E, component, visual) in the chosen stack.
- Integrating automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline; owning stability, flakiness, and run times.
- Using version control, branching, and code review practices for testing code.
- Balancing automation coverage with manual testing where automation is not cost‑effective.
- Maintaining a favorable and collaborative working relationship with co‑workers in all departments to foster an environment of trust and mutual respect. Driving standards and best practices whenever possible and effectively fostering a culture of engagement.
- Enhancing the organization’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Being innovative and recommending new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of operations and services performed.
