Working pattern/hours: Full time & permanent. Normal working hours are 35 per week, excluding 1-hour main meal break.

Do you have a passion for quality and high standards in apprenticeship training? As an Internal Quality Assurer (IQA), you’ll play a key role in making sure JTL delivers teaching, learning, and assessment that consistently meet the needs of apprentices, employers, and industry.

About the roleAs an IQA, you’ll be responsible for assuring the quality and compliance of JTL’s end-to-end apprenticeship delivery, from induction through to successful end-point assessment. You’ll sample and monitor assessment practice, support tutors and training officers to deliver excellence, and ensure JTL consistently meets the requirements of awarding organisations, EPAOs, Ofsted, and the Department for Education.
This role isn’t just about checking boxes or “internal verification”; it’s about driving improvement. You’ll provide guidance, feedback, and coaching to colleagues, share best practice across the business, and help ensure apprentices develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours they need to succeed in both their assessments and their long-term careers.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Monitor and quality assure the work of tutors and training officers, ensuring assessment decisions are fair, consistent, and in line with apprenticeship standards.
- Provide constructive feedback and coaching to staff to support continuous improvement in teaching, learning, and assessment.
- Sample and review evidence to meet the requirements of awarding organisations, EPAOs, and JTL’s own quality standards.
- Produce clear, accurate reports and action plans, tracking progress and following up to ensure agreed improvements are made.
- Lead external quality assurance visits, supporting preparation for Ofsted, awarding organisation audits, and other inspections, and providing evidence and guidance as required.
- Work collaboratively with managers and colleagues to identify trends, share good practice, and address areas for development.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of IQA activity, sampling, and staff development.
- Embed safeguarding, Prevent, equality and diversity, British values, and health and safety considerations into all aspects of your work.
- Keep your own technical and professional knowledge current through CPD, industry engagement, and training.
- Level 3 electrical qualification (or equivalent) with strong industry knowledge.
- Assessor qualification (D32, D33, A1, or TAQA).
- Verifiable experience in quality assurance across apprenticeship programmes.
- Strong understanding of awarding organisation, EPAO, and Ofsted requirements.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to your own ongoing professional development.
- Recognised IQA qualification (V1, D34, or equivalent).
- Teaching qualification (e.g. AET, PGCE, or equivalent).
- Health & Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH Managing Safely).
- Experience using quality management systems and e-portfolio platforms.
