Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Position Overview
As part of the talented Freedom Boat Club team, you will work with our large variety fleet of boats as an Assistant Club Manager. You will provide exceptional service to our members, maintain an impeccably clean and ship‑shape fleet, and ensure the club runs smoothly when the Club Manager is not present. In addition to assisting with the daily logistics of the club location, you will perform all duties required of the Dock Masters.
This is a full‑time, 40‑hour‑per‑week position.
- Help train and mentor all dock level personnel to ensure members receive the highest level of service at all club locations.
- Maintain a cooperative, team attitude in working with supervisors and fellow employees.
- Develop monthly dock staff schedules in concert with the club manager; be scheduled on all days the Club Manager is not present.
- Ensure all best practices are followed to provide consistent service as detailed in the dock manual.
- Ensure all dock staff provides the “Red Carpet” Treatment our members deserve. Help establish specific member meet‑and‑greet, boarding and disembarking procedures.
- Be accountable for the weekly vessel maintenance schedule, ensuring all boats receive a routine weekly deep cleaning as detailed in the manual.
- Be proficient in Fleetio. Submit work orders to the Fleet Manager to address all fleet needs in a timely manner.
- Investigate member misconduct, submit incident reports to the main office, and correspond with members on dock‑related issues when the Club Manager isn’t available.
- Ensure adequate supply levels are maintained at each location.
- Assist the Club Manager with weekly paperwork submissions to the home office.
- Oversee and track fuel logs and vessel fueling.
- Become familiar with local waterways and popular boating destinations surrounding your club, and adhere to all safety policies.
- Ensure that boats are clean and members are satisfied.
- High school degree
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Pass a background/education check and drug screen
- Have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
- Highly effective communication and strong customer‑service skills
- Desire to perform minor boat maintenance (engine oil, drive oil, filters, bilge pump, etc.)
- Ability to regularly complete the physical demands of the role including bending, kneeling, balancing and carrying equipment up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to read and manipulate handheld tablets
- Ability to adhere to all safety policies
- Availability to work weekdays, weekends and holidays
- Experience in and around boats
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to maintain a calm, positive attitude during periods of high activity
- Positive, cooperative attitude with the capability of working unsupervised
- Work outdoors and in various weather conditions for an extended period of time
- Work in a marina setting on docks that may be fixed or floating
- Work near and on the water
- Safely move on, off and in vessels during various tide and weather conditions
Anticipated pay range: $37,440.00–$41,600.00 annually ($18–$20 per hour).
