Position: Dog Trainer & Dog-Walking Team Trainer for Frolic Pet Services

Overview

Frolic Pet Services is searching for an experienced Dog Trainer to train with clients and assist in supporting and training our team of professional dog walkers who provide in-client-home pet care to pets of all walks of life.

About Us:

Frolic Pet Services is a locally owned, women led, professional pet care company offering in-home services in the Puget Sound region since 2008. We employ W-2 staff and provide expert training and guidance from professional dog trainers. Our small office team coordinates scheduling so current staff can focus on pet care. Our service area includes North Seattle to Federal Way. Our founder was a dog behavioralist with over 20 years of experience;
Frolic was founded to ensure every pet receives experienced care regardless of behavior, breed, or training journey.

About This Position:
As a Dog Trainer and Staff Trainer you will provide insight, guidance, training, and evaluation to the Dog Walking team, perform client pet behavioral evaluations for services, and deliver dog training. You will work with the office team to coordinate with clients, services, and staff. This role reports to the Operations Manager and interim owner in the Des Moines, WA home office and in the field at client appointments.

Note:

While this position is part-time, full-time hours may be available. This role is often paired with Dog Walking and Pet Sitting to provide additional hours. For more experienced candidates with team management and small business operations background, management roles and ownership opportunities may become available.

Main ResponsibilitiesNot an inclusive list; additional responsibilities may be added as company needs arise.
  • Dog Training: provide training to clients using Frolic methods/materials plus your own, deliver hands-on customized training, create a guidance plan for dog training clients for the dog walking team, conduct behavioral evaluations, adapt to client requests and training preferences.
  • Client Assistance: assist at client appointments (dog walking, pet sitting), including occasional overnight pet sitting; cover emergency callouts to ensure pets are cared for; perform behavioral evaluations of client pets; identify issues and coordinate plans with the team; provide basic training guidance to clients; support client and staff communications during emergencies; assist Operations and scheduling teams with the company’s scheduling system;

    update client profiles.
  • Staff Training: conduct initial dog walker interviews, deliver new staff training (online and in person), create and maintain training profiles, provide ongoing education and training support, perform staff safety evaluation and guidance on handling equipment.
General Requirements, Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership, training, or supervisory role within a team.
  • Confident communication at a high level; strong accountability and ownership; proactive planning.
  • Attention to detail and follow-through; ability to identify issues and execute solutions.
  • Interpersonal skills to train and guide clients and staff with varied personalities and abilities.
  • Enjoys working in a small, close-knit team with a shared mission to provide top-level pet services.
  • Confident spokesperson for the company; ability to represent the brand in-person, at events, and via outbound calls.
  • Dog Training

    Skills:

    2+ years of professional one-on-one dog training experience (not focused on group settings); in-person hands-on experience preferred; adaptable to various training ideologies; high-level leash handling skills; behavioral analysis and modification experience; knowledge of dog body language; ability to read animal body language and teach others; experience with a variety of breeds and behaviors.
  • Additional Requirements:

    21+, driver’s license, reliable car, travel within our service area, tech-savvy. Meet all requirements for our Dog Walkers (see  under the Physical Requirements section).
Schedule & Pay

Pay: $21.30–$26.00 per hour (W-2), with optional commission. Rate depends on experience, duties, abilities, and schedule availability.

Hours:

Initially 10–30 hours/week, with potential for more hours depending on experience and pairing with other roles (e.g., client services, office scheduling, management/ownership).

Schedule:

TBD; we will customize to fit availability and company needs. Most client work is on weekdays in the 9-3 window; we provide in-home services across North Seattle to Federal Way, year-round, 8am–6pm, with some overnight support. Shift scheduling will reflect needs.
