The NC Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) is the state government agency created to conserve and sustain the state’s fish and wildlife resources through research, scientific management, wise use and public input. The NCWRC is the regulatory agency responsible for the enforcement of North Carolina’s fishing, hunting, trapping, and boating laws. The agency has an operational budget of approximately $100 million and employs approximately 700 full-time staff and 100 seasonal temporary staff across the state, including wildlife and fisheries biologists and technicians, wildlife law enforcement officers, wildlife educators, communication specialists, and customer service, information technology and administrative professionals.

The NCWRC Mission is to conserve North Carolina’s wildlife resources and their habitats and provide programs and opportunities that allow hunters, anglers, boaters, and other outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy wildlife-associated recreation.
** Description of Work
** The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is accepting applications for a Wildlife Conservation Engagement Coordinator (Conservation Program Coordinator II) for our Wildlife Education Division.
The Wildlife Education Division is responsible for raising public awareness about the agency, its mission, and its programs. The Division aims to engage and influence individuals through education and various opportunities, encouraging them to actively participate in the conservation of the state’s wildlife resources. The Division develops and delivers education programs focused on hunting, fishing, and shooting sports, along with other conservation outreach initiatives.

With educators located throughout the state, a dedicated fishing education center, and several shooting ranges, Division staff   actively engage the public by providing outdoor skills training and educational programs that promote the conservation of North Carolina's wildlife and habitats. Additionally, the Division implements program planning and evaluation to ensure ongoing participation in conservation and wildlife-related recreational activities aligned with the agency's mission and purpose.
The primary purpose of the Wildlife Conservation Engagement Coordinator is to implement NCWRC outreach, education, and skill-based programs with an emphasis on wildlife-associated recreation and wildlife conservation statewide. Working under the direction of the Development and Evaluation Supervisor and in coordination with NCWRC staff, partners, and volunteers, this position supports the goals of the Wildlife Education Strategic Plan, the agency’s R3 and relevancy efforts.

Tasks will include but not be limited to the following:

• Expand and enhance wildlife conservation activities and wildlife-associated recreation opportunities across the state at partner facilities and NCWRC-managed lands.  
• Develop and maintain educational curriculum, lesson plans, and outreach materials that support public engagement with wildlife and nature.  
• Coordinate and evaluate volunteer involvement in wildlife conservation and recreation programs, ensuring accurate documentation and recognition.  
• Build and sustain partnerships with agencies, organizations, and community groups to broaden program reach and impact.  
• Collect, analyze, and report program participation and evaluation data to measure effectiveness and guide future planning.  
• The position involves program planning and development in collaboration with agency staff and external partners, often working toward shared goals in conservation education. In addition to designing and delivering classes, this role represents NCWRC at national and regional meetings, conferences, and working groups.
This position is home-based. Applicants must reside within 90 miles of NCWRC Headquarters in Raleigh, NC (Wake County). This is a Monday–Friday position, working 40 hours per week, with occasional evening or weekend commitments. The position carries statewide…
