Role Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated and compassionate Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join our dedicated neonatal unit at Russell’s Hall Hospital. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead by example, support junior staff, and contribute to the continuous development of neonatal services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care for babies and their families, ensuring effective liaison with other agencies.
  • Contribute to the development of multidisciplinary electronic patient record database, participating in the review of current documentation.
  • Work as a senior member of the Neonatal Team, providing support and leadership to all staff as appropriate.
  • Deliver high standards of effective patient care, ensuring individual programmes of care are assessed, planned, implemented and evaluated.
  • Promote and maintain effective communication systems both within and outside the Trust, creating an environment that encourages open communication.
  • Act as a professional role model, integrating Trust policies and procedures into practice.
  • Ensure nursing and midwifery practice is in accordance with NMC Code of Conduct.
  • Help establish Trust/Network agreed standards of care and support clinical governance activities.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualified in Specialty (QIS) neonatal nurse – essential.
  • Proven experience in neonatal intensive, high dependency, and special care.
  • Strong leadership and decision‑making skills.
