Dental Nurse - Training Wing

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Dental Nurse to join our Public Dental Service (PDS) to provide patient‑centred dental support for Dental and Therapy students at Dumfries Dental Centre, with coverage at other outlying clinics required at times.

This is a permanent position 37hpw term time (34 weeks per year).

Relevant clinical experience as a Dental Nurse and NEBDN qualification or SVQ Level 3 in Dental Nursing is essential along with registration with GDC as a Dental Nurse.

A sound knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety requirements within a clinical environment are essential as well as the ability to find solutions to problems whilst retaining excellent and efficient communications skills.

Experience of supporting Special Care patients and supporting two clinicians at the same time is desirable. Working to a common team goal, whilst taking initiative is essential within this role.

Participation in the on‑call rota for weekend emergency clinics is an essential part of the role.

As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
