Deputy Endoscopy Manager
Exciting opportunity at Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust – Royal Liverpool Hospital site to manage the Endoscopy unit.
Minimum of 2 years Endoscopy experience required. The post holder will work without direct supervision and will take charge of the Endoscopy unit in the absence of the department manager.
Key responsibilities include the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, effective leadership and staff management/development. The post holder will always work within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
Responsibilities- Co‑ordination of the Endoscopy department on a day‑to‑day basis, including planning, allocation and evaluation of work carried out by teams, individuals and by oneself.
- Provide specialist knowledge to all nursing staff on the department.
- Promote a critical, analytical approach to the delivery of nursing care so the department environment is responsive to current issues.
- Assist in the review and update of procedures and protocols relating to patient care.
- Develop methods for identifying, maintaining and improving the quality of patient care through facilitation of best practice and clinical benchmarking.
- Ensure due regard is given to the customs, values and spiritual beliefs of patients/clients.
- Explore and undertake expanded practice to optimise patient care as required within the specialist area, in accordance with Trust policies.
- Mentor junior staff.
- Manage roster, allocations and sickness/absence as per Trust policy.
- Act at all times in a manner that upholds the reputation of the Trust and safeguards the wellbeing and dignity of patients and their relatives.
- Act always in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct and Guidance documents and maintain active status on the NMC Register.
- Take every reasonable opportunity to sustain and improve knowledge, including working clinically.
- Identify objectives within a Personal Development Plan (PDP) that support the delivery of high standards of clinical care.
- Coordinate and lead shift.
- Registered Nurse, current NMC registration.
- Post‑registration qualification in speciality.
- First‑level degree.
- Teaching and assessing qualification or equivalent.
- Evidence of management experience.
- Evidence of change management.
- Application of evidence‑based practice.
- Evidence of developing high standards of patient care.
- Lead role in education of staff and patients.
- Endoscopy experience.
- Application of current nursing issues and healthcare governance.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work in changing environments.
- Basic IT skills, including e‑mail and word processing.
- Supportive of colleagues.
- High level of personal and professional credibility.
- Well motivated.
