Supervisor, RN; Assistant Nurse Manager - Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit

Overview

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, a level one trauma center, is seeking a Supervisor Registered Nurse (Assistant Nurse Manager) for our Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit.

Norfolk, VA.

Work Shift:

Multiple shifts available. Hours/Shift: Full Time (40 hours) Rotating Shifts.

Position shares 24/7 responsibility to assist the manager in daily operations of one or more clinical areas. Supervises patient care services staff to ensure patient safety, high quality outcomes and exceptional patient/family experience; assists manager in development and monitoring of the departmental budget; coordinates purchasing and payroll processes; serves as a technical/clinical resource; performs work assignments to provide coverage and mentor staff.

Assists in interviewing, hiring, developing, retaining staff, and may coordinate staff education, orientation and precepting. Utilizes effective communication/interpersonal skills and adaptable leadership to support department goals.

• 14 bed unit
• Hospital performs Kidney/Pancreas Transplants and complex vascular surgeries
• Immediate surgical recovery of Kidney and Pancreas Transplant
• General Surgical Patients requiring ICU
• Management of patients requiring mechanical ventilation
• Management of patients requiring CRRT and hemodialysis
• Vascular procedures including lower extremity revascularization, AAA repairs, EVAR/TEVAR, bypass, carotid procedures, EKOS- for DVTs, etc.
• General patient population served:
  Adult medical and surgical patients requiring intensive nursing care. Average length of stay 2-3 days; complex patients may be there >30 days.

• BSN (required) or MSN (preferred)

• Registered nursing license (Required)
• BLS required within 90 days of hire

• 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
