Location: Norfolk, VA

Work Shift: Third (Nights)

Hours: 36 hours per week

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation. The RN adheres to standards of professional performance such as ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.

The RN demonstrates clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

This 24-bed Surgical Unit is primarily orthopedic patients, with some general medical patients. The unit is 70% orthopedic surgical patients and 30% medical patients.

New Grad RNs are welcome to apply. The 11-week Transition to Practice (TTP) program focuses on orientation, with intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in IMC areas. For new graduates, this TTP program start a comprehensive 6-month residency to support your transition to practice.

• Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)

• Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred

• Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program

• Registered Nursing License (Required)

• Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire

Sentara Leigh Hospital, located in Norfolk, VA, is a 274-bed acute care facility with a long history of orthopedic care and other specialties.
