OverviewInter Health Medical Staffing Solutions is a for‑profit staffing division of Tampa General Hospital, the primary teaching hospital for the University of South Florida and a Magnet‑designated facility serving a population of over six million across a dozen counties. Inter Health is hiring 13‑week contract RN staff for the emergency department with higher base pay and purchase benefits. Contracts may be converted to full‑time or part‑time and are eligible for extensions based on unit coverage.
Applicants must have a minimum of two years’ experience in the specific division and be competent to work independently.
- Assesses and analyzes the health status of patients in the nursing unit in a comprehensive manner, performing and/or assuring completed assessments within guideline‑specified times.
- Performs ongoing assessments and documents them per policy, reporting significant findings to the appropriate healthcare team member.
- Initiates discharge planning based on the initial admission assessment.
- Plans patient care in collaboration with the patient, family, and healthcare team.
- Formulates individualized patient plans of care within the designated time frame and updates them based on reassessment.
- Directs, implements, and coordinates patient care activities to ensure quality delivery.
- Communicates the plan of care to team members through daily conference worksheets, verbal shift hand‑offs, and shift reports.
- Directs care team members in accordance with their scope of practice.
- Communicates and documents all patient care, including assessments, plans, interventions, patient response, and follow‑up; transcribes and implements physician orders; provides patient education and evaluates understanding.
- Conducts ongoing evaluation of patient outcomes and documents effectiveness of interventions, involving patients and families in the evaluation process.
- Provides appropriate assessment and care for specific patient populations (e.g., age groups, size, diagnosis‑based).
- Demonstrates knowledge of the physical, psychosocial, and developmental needs of the populations served.
- Knowledge of assessment techniques and diagnostic tools.
- Ability to conduct thorough assessments, interpret clinical data, and apply critical thinking to respond to changes in patient condition.
- Knowledge of evidence‑based practices for care planning.
- Skill in developing, implementing, and modifying patient care plans with the healthcare team, ensuring effective coordination.
- Understanding of patient education principles and ability to provide clear, personalized education, assessing comprehension.
- Knowledge of outcome measurement and quality improvement processes.
- Ability to evaluate patient progress and adjust care plans to drive improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with documentation standards and legal requirements.
- Ability to document patient care accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with legal, ethical, and institutional standards.
Education:
Associate’s Degree in Nursing (minimum).
Licenses/Certifications:
FL RN license; BLS, ACLS, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), NIHSS certifications required.
Minimum two years of experience in a specialty unit and deemed competent.
