The Lactation team at Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics is dedicated to meeting the needs of the mother/baby dyad by promotion, education, support, and assistance for all mothers who are providing breast milk. The team provides support to families whose children are inpatient as well as those seen in our Primary Care Clinics and Ambulatory clinics. We coordinate and collaborate with the medical team to bring focus to and promote inclusion of each family's feeding goals in the plan of care.
Manages unit-based patient care services, including personnel and fiscal management and development of programs and services. Participates in department and hospital performance improvement activities. Provides family-centered patient care that is based in scientific theory and is outcome-focused.

Responsibilities- Personnel management.
- Comprehensive unit management and development of programs and services.
- Participates in department and organization performance improvement activities.
- Fiscal management and accountability.
- Actively participates and provides leadership for education programs, unit meetings, and assigned committees.
- Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a comprehensive plan of care for the patient/family which promotes optimal patient outcomes.
- IBCLC Certification Required Upon Hire
- Bachelor's Degree required and 1-2 years experience; at least 12 months of experience in clinical nursing.
- Master's Degree preferred and 1-2 years experience or
- Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire.
- Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire.
- Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire.
- Specialty Certification relevant to unit's patient population (determined by Nurse Director) Required Upon Hire.

Remote Work/Work from HomeThis is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at-home and on-site hours at a Children’s Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
