Clinical Assistant Professor, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

  • $90,000+ 9‑month contract, commensurate with experience, plus possible separate summer contract (exempt)

Purpose of Position

To serve as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) track, delivering high‑quality education, advising, and clinical services to students and the institution.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • 90% – Teaching and advising students in the PMHNP track (includes advising independent study projects). Potential courses:
    • NURS 538 Psychiatric Diagnostic Reasoning
    • NURS 583 Individual Therapy
    • NURS 584 Group and Family Therapy
    • NURS 564 Psychopharmacology
    • NURS 588 Management of Psychopathology I
    • NURS 589 Management of Psychopathology II
    • NURS 598 Advanced Clinical Practicum
  • 10% – Service to the University, College, and/or Department (specific duties coordinated with department chair)
Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in nursing
  • Certified as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner across the lifespan
  • Ability to obtain license in ND and other states as required
  • Current clinical experience as a PMHNP
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
  • High‑level oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Commitment to the profession's values and collegiality
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in APN education
