**** Department/Unit Overview:
** The patient population on this 24-bed unit is step-down patients in need of intermediate care.  This progressive care unit provides nursing care for patients who are too ill for the general medical/surgical units, but do not need an intensive level of care in the the ICU.  Population is general medicine, surgical, chronic vents (4 beds), bypass patients.  We are a Stroke Certified unit.
** Education
* ** Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or diploma in the Nursing Field required
** Certification/Licensure
*** Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
* Basic Life Support (BLS)
* ACLS* NIH stroke scale
** Experience
* ** Must have two or more years of current acute care hospital experience.
