Job Information Exemption Status:
Non-Exempt A Brief Overview Responsible for the daily to day operations of the Medical/Surgical department. Promotes a strong team atmosphere through motivation, coaching, and conflict management. Prioritizes communication throughout the system and community to facilitate a multi-disciplinary approach to coordination of throughput and capacity management.
Education Qualifications
* 2 years Current experience in related clinical field in acute care facility. Preferred
* Supervisor experience. Preferred
* Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to rights of patient/significant other, as identified within the institution. (Required proficiency)
* Demonstrates awareness and application of safety issues as identified within the institution. (Required proficiency)
* Demonstrates awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and departmental functioning. Strives to manage situations in a manner, which minimizes risk to the patient and the institution. (Required proficiency)
* Demonstrates competency in selected psychomotor skills. (Required proficiency)
* Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, non-verbal and written methods. (Required proficiency)
* Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to medication administration and equipment calibration. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. (Required proficiency)
* Promotes effective relationships among all disciplines to achieve quality outcomes and a culture of safety.
* Engages in creating an Interprofessional environment that promotes respect, trust, and integrity.
* Communicates to lead change, influence others, and resolve conflict.
* Embraces and leads practice innovations and role performance to promote ongoing personal and professional growth among team members.
* Mentors team and others to enhance their knowledge, skills, and abilities.
* Demonstrates authority, ownership, accountability, and responsibility for appropriate delegation of nursing care to support patient throughput and capacity management.
* Must remain clinically competent to perform direct patient care.
* Must be able to link organization objectives and strategic planning to department goals and operations.
* Supports the direction and vision of the organization and is able to communicate that effectively to the team.
* Uses critical thinking to identify and prioritize responsibilities and activities.
* Problem-solves and makes decisions using professional judgement.
* Participates in developing staff through education and competencies.
* Responsible for creating a welcoming environment and successful orientation for new team members.
* Responsible for staff performance evaluations and providing constructive feedback and ongoing coaching.
* Proficient in staffing and scheduling practices to optimize our ability to care for patients and remain fiscally responsible.
* Enforces compliance with standards of patient care and regulatory requirements.
* Complies with all policies, standards, mandatory training and requirements of Stormont Vail Health
* Performs other duties as assigned
* Workspace is a quiet and distraction-free allowing the ability to comply with all security and privacy standards.
* Stable access to electricity and a minimum of 25mb upload and internet speed.
* Dedicate full attention to the job duties and communication with others during working hours.
* Adhere to break and attendance schedules agreed upon with supervisor.
* Abide by Stormont Vail’s Remote Worker Policy and will review and acknowledge the Remote Work Agreement annually.
