Job SummaryIn alignment with YCCBC values, the Community Climate Action Mobilizer is responsible for performing day-to-day tasks across various community climate and environmental projects associated with the partnership between YCCBC and City of Vernon. The Mobilizers contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive work environment and work closely with the Co-Leads and cohort to achieve program objectives. This position will provide a variety of exciting opportunities to participate in community climate action related initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase community connections and resiliency.
Opportunities may include ecological restoration, invasive species removal, gardening/farming, home Fire Smart assessments, hands-on community workshops (e.g., making native seed balls, portable air filters, evacuation kits, etc.), Go By Bike Week events, social cycling group rides, bike storage valet, and information booths at markets and festivals.

- Participate in and actively engage with initial and ongoing training sessions led by YCCBC, Co-Leads, and project partners.
- Work alongside team members and community partners to advance local climate initiatives and community priorities through diverse tasks and responsibilities.
- Be open to learning new things, trying new things, and challenging yourself to grow.
- Assist with coordinating and preparing worksite logistics.
- Complete assigned tasks safely, efficiently, and with a focus on meeting project goals.
- Support the program Co-Leads in collecting data and compiling information for project reports.
- Contribute to building a team culture of safety, inclusion, and belonging.
- Contribute to social media promotional events and activities.
- Collaborate with the Co-Leads to identify and address challenges, working toward effective solutions.
- Respect and follow the processes outlined in the Collective Agreement, and engage with union representatives as needed regarding workplace questions or concerns.
- Positively represent YCCBC and its partner organizations when engaging with the community.
- Various job sites that will include working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and physical labour.
- Occasional work from a home office
No ‘formal’ post-secondary education is required, as we recognize that ‘formal’ education at colleges and universities is just one version of many types of meaningful education.
