Eco Rise mobilizes a new generation of leaders to design healthy, just, and thriving communities for all. Eco Rise seeks individuals based in Austin, New York City, and San Antonio to join our dynamic team of change makers.
Position OverviewEco Rise seeks a self‑motivated, highly organized, adaptable, and innovative individual with youth engagement experience for the contract position of Internship Coordinator. The Internship Coordinator will facilitate the Eco Rise Green Careers Academy (GCA) Internship. The GCA Internship is an immersive, paid summer program designed to provide exposure to a wide variety of green careers, sharpen 21st‑century and workplace skills, and foster connections with a network of green professionals representing a variety of sustainability focus areas like community resilience, green design, and conservation.
The Internship Coordinator will facilitate engaging virtual and in‑person experiences for high school students and will report to the Chief Program Officer. Candidates must be based in one of our program regions.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive internship program focusing on sustainability and climate‑related issues
- Build and maintain relationships with organizations, agencies, and non‑profits engaged in environmental and climate resilience to cultivate a diverse array of potential intern hosts across multiple regions
- Coordinate the intern recruitment and mentor matching process
- Manage administrative tasks related to internships, including tracking intern hours, maintaining records, and preparing program reports
- Develop and implement evaluation tools to assess intern performance and program effectiveness, including post‑program surveys, focus groups, and internship site visits
- Support the Eco Rise Youth Alumni Network with communications, initiatives, and mentorship
- Build strong relationships with interns, establish and reinforce Eco Rise norms and culture, and act as a mentor
- Provide ongoing support and mentorship to interns throughout their placement
- Facilitate engaging virtual and in‑person learning experiences for high school interns and internship hosts, covering 21st‑century skill development, workplace readiness, sustainability, climate change, green building, environmental justice, and community resilience
- Coordinate weekly virtual check‑ins with interns
- Collaborate with Youth Programs Team to connect youth with local and national sustainability professionals and academics
- Capture photo and video assets during the program, particularly during the intern intensive week and site visits, to document intern experiences and showcase mentor relationships
- Create and disseminate digital assets for interns
Skills and Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and youth engagement
- Demonstrated commitment to social and environmental justice
- Minimum two years of experience working with high school students
- Must have a personal vehicle or alternative means of transportation for local travel
- Must be willing to work occasional nights and weekends
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills that help represent and reach racially, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse communities
- Self‑motivated personality with effective project‑management skills; attentive to details with keen aptitude for organization
- Strong computer literacy skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, Canva, and Zoom
- Experience with workforce development
- Experience designing and facilitating engaging experiences for students
- Working proficiency in written and verbal Spanish
- Experience implementing problem‑based learning
This is a seasonal, largely remote contract position from March through August 2026, totaling up to approximately 225 hours. March through May will involve onboarding and program preparation (approximately 20 hours per month), with the majority of work occurring in June and July (10–15 hours per week).
Please note:
June 8‑12, 2026 will require in‑person full workdays with non‑local travel; all travel expenses are covered by Eco Rise.
Compensation ranges from $25–35 per hour and includes a $300 technology and travel stipend. Flexible work from home options are available.
