Position: Office of Volunteer Engagement Technology and Operations Intern (Summer Start)

Technology & Operations Intern

will play a key role in managing our volunteer database, enhancing volunteer engagement systems, and supporting key resources to ensure efficient operations and an exceptional experience for our volunteers. This position is ideal for a creative, organized, and self-starting undergraduate or graduate student interested in technology, data management, and nonprofit operations. You will have the opportunity to gain practical experience with Salesforce, develop your project management skills, and collaborate with teams throughout the organization to strengthen volunteer engagement efforts and provide valuable support.

This paid internship has an anticipated start date of Summer 2026
, with the possibility of extending additional semesters. The internship requires a commitment of 40 hours per week during the summer and a minimum of 10 to 15 hours each week during the semester. This position can be done remotely or from AARP’s National Office in Washington, DC. This can be a fully remote position and can be performed from anywhere in the United States and its territories.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with data entry, database management, and reporting in Salesforce
  • Apply analytical and creative thinking to improve processes and procedures
  • Coordinate communications between team members and stakeholders
  • Participate in regular team meetings and report on project updates
  • Maintain project documentation to ensure information is accurately tracked and shared with the team
  • Respond to staff and volunteer inquiries and provide excellent customer service support
Qualifications
  • Current undergraduate junior/senior or graduate student in a degree‑seeking program (or recent graduate enrolled in continuing education)
  • Interest in technology, nonprofit/business management, or volunteer engagement
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Salesforce or similar tools is a plus
  • Experience or coursework in information systems technology, computer science, business administration, or related fields preferred

Compensation And Benefits

The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non‑exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
