Position summary
Town shippers’ Association is looking for a Community Development Coordinator who will be responsible for fostering strong relationships with other community organizations at the MRC level. This position requires a proactive and collaborative individual who can effectively navigate complex community dynamics and advocate for the needs of our organization and its constituents.
Major responsibilities- MRC Sectoral Table Participation:
- Actively participate in relevant MRC Sectoral Tables, representing the organization's interests and priorities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with representatives from other organizations, government agencies, and community stakeholders.
- Stay informed on current issues, trends, and opportunities within the community and sector.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of collaborative initiatives and projects.
- Advocate for the organization's position on key issues and policies.
- Community Relationship Building:
- Identify and establish partnerships with other community organizations to leverage resources and achieve shared goals.
- Organize and facilitate meetings, workshops, and networking events to strengthen relationships and foster collaboration.
- Share information and resources with partners to promote effective communication and coordination.
- Collaborate with other organizations to develop joint projects and initiatives.
- Community Needs Assessment:
- Conduct regular assessments of community needs and priorities, identifying opportunities for collaboration and intervention.
- Analyze data and trends to inform strategic planning and decision-making.
- Share findings with relevant stakeholders and advocate for resource allocation to address community needs.
- Program Development and Implementation:
- Develop and implement community development programs and initiatives that align with the organization's mission and goals.
- Secure funding and manage budgets for programs and projects.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
- Reporting and Evaluation:
- Prepare regular reports on activities, accomplishments, and challenges.
- Evaluate the impact of the organization's involvement in MRC Sectoral Tables and other community initiatives.
- Share insights and lessons learned with the organization's leadership and staff.
- Education: College degree or vocational training program in a field relating to sociology, social sciences, education, early childhood education, or equivalent experience (1-3 years). Other combinations of relevant training and experience may be considered.
- Experience:
- Experience with project management and event planning will be considered an asset.
- Experience with meeting facilitation and public speaking will be considered an asset.
- Experience working within the community network ecosystem will be considered an asset.
- Communication:
- Excellent mastery of English (oral, written, comprehension) and strong French skills (oral, written, comprehension) because the individual will be required to work in English part of the time, specifically with English-speaking partners and community members.
- Excellent communications and teamwork skills.
- Other skills & knowledge:
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Strong task- and time-management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and follow a work plan.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn quickly and efficiently other related tools (e.g., Office 365, Canva, Zoom, Teams).
- Previous experience using Odoo and other CRM systems.

Regular daytime schedule with occasional evening/weekend work required. Flexible, hybrid work environment (offering remote work and in-office work opportunities), with an option to work from any Town shippers’ Association’s offices depending on need/location.
