About Us
The Empowerment Factory (TEF) is a non‑profit dedicated to giving youth the skills they need to lead happier, healthier, and more empowered lives. We focus on three areas of development—creativity, self‑esteem, and civic pride—through our Creative Squad programs, which blend hands‑on activities with social emotional learning (SEL) and environmental education. Our vision is that every child develops the confidence and ability to express themselves and to become successful in school and life.
We serve over 3,700 urban youth through 34 after‑school clubs and 13 summer programs, 90% of whom live in underserved communities.
Founded by Gail Ahlers in April 2014 and federally recognized as a 501(c)(3) in August 2016, TEF offers programs and special events for schools, after‑school programs, organizations, libraries, and youth groups to help children develop the skills they need to succeed.
We welcome your involvement and support—whether you can give resources, volunteer your time, or advocate—so we can build a better world together.
