The ACLU seeks an Undergraduate Creative Engagement intern in the Development Department of the ACLU’s National office in New York City. This internship is hybrid.
Qualifying applicants must currently be matriculated undergraduate students or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience and must be based in the U.S. for the entire duration of the internship.

WhatYou’ll Do
The Creative Engagement intern will gain nonprofit marketing experience by working with the Donor & Brand Activation team within the ACLU’s Development Department. The intern will provide graphic design and project management support for editorial and print projects, including publications, decks, and reports, to increase fundraising opportunities and promote awareness of the ACLU’s work nationwide.
Your Day to Day- Provide graphic design support for updating donor communications templates and visual content
- Coordinate with teams across departments to implement brand elements across donor materials
- Collaborate with editors on visual strategy for donor publications and messaging
- Work with external designers and creatives on special projects and events for brand awareness
- Assist with maintenance and development of departmental story bank
- Support digital asset management for fundraising teams
- Graphic design experience in digital and print
- Knowledge of marketing, publishing, branding, and/or fundraising
- Familiarity with project management processes and tools
- Excellent writing, communication, and time‑management skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
- Be committed to advancing the mission of the ACLU

- Be committed to working collaboratively and respectfully toward resolving obstacles and conflict
- Location: Hybrid from our New York City office (remote positions limited)
- Time Commitment: Full‑time (35 hours/week)
- Duration: 10 consecutive weeks; start date:
May 26th or June 8th - Stipend: $20/hr for undergraduate students or equivalent experience. Stipend available for students who are lawfully authorized to work and arrangements can be made with educational institutions for work/study or course credit.
