Cultural Survival's internship program creates opportunities for mentorship, learning, and development for individuals interested in the non-profit sphere, particularly in the vital work performed by Cultural Survival toward the advancement and defense of Indigenous People’s rights, lands, languages, and cultures. This initiative is one of the paths by which we demonstrate our social commitment to academic development and the awarding of meaningful learning opportunities.

We are accepting applications for an upcoming remote & in-person internship opportunity for Summer 2026 within our Bazaar Program. The selected intern will report to our Bazaar Events Manager and will work closely with our Logistics and Operations Assistant or the Vendor Coordinator. The initial internship length is 3 months.
Bazaar Communications InternWe are looking for a self‑motivated candidate based in the Boston, MA or Providence, RI area with a strong interest in storytelling, journalism, and communications. The intern will contribute to increasing the visibility of Bazaar initiatives by posting articles on local event calendars, writing cameo pieces that spotlight our vendors in local news to help promote the Bazaars in Providence and Tiverton, RI.
Their work will help capture the voices and experiences of Indigenous vendors, highlight key events and milestones, and share the broader impact of the Bazaar.
The intern will work closely with the Logistics & Operations Assistant and Vendor Coordinator Communications team, and other CS staff members to gather information, identify relevant topics, and ensure alignment with organizational messaging. Being locally based will support coordination with on‑the‑ground activities such as canvasing, as well as assisting the team with the set up and breakdown of the Bazaars, and providing vendor support as needed in July and August.
Fluency in English and Spanish is highly desired. English and a language other than Spanish might also be considered. English only is adequate.
Key GoalSupport the promotion and success of the Summer Bazaars through the production of well‑crafted articles, website content, and in‑person promotion that reflect the Bazaar’s mission, values, and ongoing work.
Key learning objectives- Strengthen research and writing skills by producing clear, engaging, and purpose‑driven articles for internal and external audiences.
- Develop the ability to communicate complex ideas in a concise and accessible way, aligned with CS’s tone and mission.
- Gain experience talking about Cultural Survival and the Bazaars in order to garner support.
- Enhance time management and self‑organization skills by meeting writing deadlines and adapting to feedback cycles.
- Research and write engaging news articles related to Bazaar activities, initiatives, and relevant topics.
- Develop content for local newspapers that aligns with our organizational voice, mission, and current Bazaar‑related efforts.
- Collaborate with the Logistics & Operations Assistant and Vendor Coordinator to identify key story angles and priority topics.
- Conduct brief interviews or outreach (as needed) to gather insights or quotes from vendors, stakeholders, or staff.
- Follow internal style guidelines and ensure clarity, consistency, and accuracy in all written content.
- Participate in regular check‑ins with the Logistics and Operations Assistant to review progress and receive feedback.
- Manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Contribute to the development of a content calendar and work plan for the internship period.
