What you’ll do

As the Director, Community Giving, you’ll lead a passionate team dedicated to creating meaningful donor experiences through welcoming new supporters to BCCHF and strengthening relationships with loyal donors and community leaders across the province. You’ll focus on developing and empowering a high‑performing team, helping them build deep connections that inspire generosity and drive long‑term support for BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. Your strong leadership and senior volunteer‑management experience will enable you to represent the Foundation with confidence and build trusted relationships both internally and within the broader community.

More specifically, you will:

  • Lead and develop the Community Giving team, providing clear direction, coaching, performance management, and support to a high performing group of fundraisers. This includes overseeing remote team members.
  • Build and execute a multi-faceted fundraising strategy that increases revenue, drives donor migrations, strengthens donor retention, and supports Foundation wide goals across mid-level giving and community initiative teams.
  • Champion a continuous improvement mindset; identify opportunities to optimize processes and procedures through technology and automation, partnering with IT and Business Intelligence teams to scope and deliver implementations.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal relationships and involve the appropriate colleagues across the Foundation to coordinate and execute strategies to engage donors.
  • Stay current on emerging trends in philanthropy and development, implementing and driving new programs, initiatives and partnerships that expand reach and deepen connection across BC communities.
  • In collaboration with partnering teams (Major Gifts, Legacy Giving, Corporate Giving, Strategic Partnerships) guide the development of complex multi faceted donor proposals the advance emerging areas of need for the Hospital.
  • Drive organizational collaboration as a part of the leadership group participating in cross departmental projects providing expertise and insights in support of Foundation wide priorities and goals.
  • Grow team capabilities and culture around data driven decision making and ensure a high level of data literacy and governance.

    You bring a minimum of 10 years of significant fundraising experience, with a record of progressive accomplishment in developing, implementing, and managing successful fundraising initiatives, and leading high-

    performance teams. You demonstrate knowledge of current and emerging trends in philanthropy and have a passion for healthcare with the ability to translate healthcare and research concepts to diverse audiences.

    Additionally, you will bring:

  • A diploma or degree and formal training in fundraising, marketing, or business administration
  • Demonstrated expertise in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts, with a full understanding of the major gifts/donor cycle.
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead, coach, and motivate a team to excel in their roles while fostering a collaborative environment when working; experience overseeing a remote office is considered an asset.
  • Passion for excellence, positive contribution to community and continual improvement.
  • Strong knowledge and experience using databases;
