We have an exciting opportunity for an intern on our Development Team. As an intern supporting our Heart Walk campaign, including our signature Heart & Stroke Walk event, you will play a key role in driving the success of these impactful campaigns. Your responsibilities will include a variety of tasks that contribute to the planning, execution, and follow‑up of these life‑saving initiatives with a focus on maximizing participant engagement.

The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands‑on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non‑profit, voluntary health organization.

Internship Overview:

  • Time Commitment: 20 hours/week
  • Internship Duration: 5/18/26-8/21/26
  • Location:

    Hybrid (Los Angeles/Culver City office/home office/external meetings and events)
  • Salary: $23.00 per hour

  • Complete an internship that enriches your academic and professional resume as well as enriching your personal life by making a difference in the lives of others.
Responsibilities
  • Responsibilities include assisting with the development and implementation of fundraising activities and providing administrative support for the Greater Los Angeles market.
  • Work with staff and volunteers to support fundraising campaigns. The focus is on the Heart Walk campaign and increasing participation and engagement with the Heart & Stroke Walk event.
  • Conduct external visits, calls, and emails to help with recruitment, engagement, management, and stewardship of current and prospective donors and volunteers.
  • Support the development and updating of marketing materials for campaigns, including save the dates, invitations, social media posts, volunteer rosters, and other needed collateral to assist in campaign promotion.
  • Assist with volunteer management, including prepping for and attending externally facing meetings (both in‑person and virtual).
  • Conduct prospect research to generate new leads and compile information for fundraising campaigns.
Qualifications
  • Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, communications, nonprofit management, or event management
  • Must be comfortable with outreach (phone calls & emails to current and prospective participants)
  • Experience/interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising
  • Demonstrated skills in effective one‑on‑one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
  • Intermediate to excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office and Canva.
  • Required Equipment:
    Reliable WiFi Connection and

    reliable transportation.
  • Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M‑F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
