Jay Vaingankar for Congress is hiring Field Interns to support grassroots organizing operations in New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District. Interns will gain hands‑on experience in field operations, including voter outreach, volunteer organizing, and event planning.

This internship is ideal for high‑school and college students, along with recent graduates, who are seeking practical experience and mentorship from campaign professionals.

Interns have the opportunity to be considered for paid roles as the campaign grows. Participating in the internship program does not guarantee a paid position.

Schedule and Availability

• Time commitment: 10-15 hours per week.
• Weekend and evening availability is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct voter outreach through phone and text banking.
• Accurately record voter responses using campaign software.
• Represent the campaign professionally.
• Assist with volunteer recruitment and training.
• Help plan and staff canvass launches, phone banks, and campaign events.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Comfortability engaging with voters.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

• Familiarity with NJ‑12 (Mercer, Middlesex, Somerset, and Union Counties).

Academic Credit and Professional Development

• Academic credit is available depending on your school’s internship requirements. Interns are responsible for confirming credit eligibility and forwarding all required paperwork in a timely manner.
• Mentorship from campaign leadership.
• Letters of recommendation are available for strong performers.
• Consideration for paid roles if openings arise.
